Filled with great responsibility, joy as well as challenges, parenting is a big journey in life. When relationships change due to separation or divorce, the path can become even more complex and emotionally taxing. At The Family Enhancement Centre, we understand how overwhelming this transition can be for you and your children. That’s why we offer co-parenting counselling: a supportive space where you can rebuild your parenting partnership with empathy and understanding. Our goal is to help you navigate this new chapter with confidence, ensuring that your children continue to thrive in a loving and stable environment. At the end of this course, our students will also have a 200-page workbook that they get to keep.
Separation doesn’t end your role as a parent; it transforms it. Co-parenting serves as a bridge to help you and your former partner communicate effectively, manage conflicts peacefully, and make collaborative decisions that prioritize your children’s needs. We believe that, despite the personal challenges you may face, it’s possible to form a cooperative parenting relationship that fosters resilience and happiness in your children.
Children are remarkably perceptive and can sense tension between their parents. Without guidance, they may internalize feelings of confusion, guilt, or anxiety. By receiving co-parenting counselling, you can minimize these negative impacts. Our compassionate therapists work with you to create a consistent and nurturing environment, helping your children feel secure and loved during this time of change.
Every family is unique, and so are the challenges you face. Our counsellors take the time to understand your specific situation, providing personalized strategies that align with your family’s dynamics. Whether you are dealing with high-conflict interactions or simply need help adjusting to new parenting roles, we are here to support you every step of the way.
Our team comprises registered social workers, psychotherapists, and mental health professionals who specialize in family dynamics and co-parenting counselling. With years of experience and a deep commitment to helping families heal, our therapists offer a compassionate approach that respects your feelings and promotes positive change.
We recognize that life doesn’t pause for therapy appointments. To accommodate your busy schedule, we offer sessions seven days a week, including evenings and weekends. You can choose between in-person meetings at one of our multiple locations or convenient online sessions from the comfort of your home.
We provide a safe space in which you can easily open up about your innermost feelings and thoughts without having to worry about being judged. Our therapists foster an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality, ensuring that you feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues. This safe environment is crucial for effective co-parenting counselling, as it helps you engage in honest communication and make meaningful progress.
Healing and growth are continuous processes. Beyond our co-parenting counselling sessions, we offer ongoing support and resources to help you navigate challenges as they arise. Whether it’s additional reading materials, workshops, or follow-up sessions, we are committed to being there for you whenever you need us.
The cornerstone of successful co-parenting is effective communication. Our counselling sessions focus on developing respectful dialogue, active listening, and non-verbal communication. Our therapists help you express your inner feelings and thoughts constructively, reducing misunderstandings and fostering mutual respect.
Disagreements are natural, but how you handle them makes all the difference. We provide you the practical techniques you need to manage conflicts calmly and productively. By learning to address issues without escalation, you create a more harmonious environment for your children.
Children thrive on consistency. We help you align your parenting styles, set common rules, and establish shared expectations. This unified approach reduces confusion and helps your children feel more secure.
Separation can bring a whirlwind of emotions, including grief, anger, and sadness. Our therapists offer a safe space for you to process these feelings. By addressing your emotional well-being, you are better equipped to support your children through their own adjustments.
By improving your co-parenting relationship, you indirectly strengthen your bond with your children. When children observe their parents working together respectfully, it improves their sense of stability and trust. Co-parenting counselling helps you focus on nurturing these vital relationships, fostering a supportive environment where your children can flourish.
Your children’s happiness and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. We guide you in making decisions that serve their best interests, helping them adjust positively to the changes in their lives.
We promote a team-based approach, encouraging you and your former partner to work together for the sake of your children. Through collaborative exercises and mutual goal setting, we help you build a cooperative parenting relationship.
Our counselling isn’t just about immediate solutions; it’s about empowering you with lifelong skills. From empathy and patience to effective problem-solving, we equip you with tools that benefit all areas of your life.
We understand that when you reach out for help, timely assistance is crucial. There is no wait list at The Family Enhancement Centre – you can typically schedule an appointment within a week, sometimes even on the same day.

"After my divorce, co-parenting was one of the hardest parts of my life. The Family Enhancement Centre provided such a supportive space where my ex-partner and I could communicate more effectively. Our counsellor was patient and gave us specific tools to manage conflict and create a parenting plan that truly works for both of us. It's been a relief knowing we're doing what's best for our kids."
Acknowledging that you need support is a brave and compassionate act, not just for yourself, but for your entire family. Co-parenting therapy can transform your relationship with your former partner, creating a more peaceful and supportive environment for your children.
Absolutely. Our therapists are experienced in handling high-conflict scenarios and can provide strategies to reduce tension and improve communication, all in a safe and supportive environment. If the parents are taking the course together they have to be able to be in the same room with each other and be productive. If there are restraining orders or history of domestic violence it is better if the parents do not take the program together.
While joint participation is ideal, we can still work with you individually to develop coping strategies and communication skills that can positively influence the co-parenting relationship. Most people who take this program come in without the other parent, however. That’s why we also provide pre- and post-program assessments to check if the conflict between parents has been reduced or not, when only one parent is taking the course.
We can guide you on how to discuss counselling with your children in an age-appropriate and reassuring manner, emphasizing that it’s a positive step toward a happier family dynamic.
Yes, it is court approved. At certain times the conflict between parents is so high and negatively effecting their children so much that a judge or child protection agency will order that the parents take this program. They will also get a certificate of completion to show the courts when they are done. Some people also want to proactively take the course to ensure that their separation is done correctly to minimize any impact on their kids.
Your commitment to co-parenting counselling is a profound gift to your children. By fostering a cooperative and loving parenting partnership, you are laying the foundation for their future success and emotional well-being. Children who witness respectful communication and collaboration between their parents have a better chance of developing healthy relationships themselves.
