Michaël Nystrom (She, Her & Elle for French) is a dedicated and compassionate social worker who is committed to helping children, youth, adults, couples and families unlock their potential and overcome their unique challenges. Michaël believes that a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is essential for providing effective support and fostering personal growth. With a warm and approachable demeanour, she creates a safe and collaborative environment that encourages clients to explore their experiences and work towards their goals.

Having served as a Black Health & Wellness Counsellor Michaël delivers culturally competent counselling and support services to children, youth, adults, couples and families focusing on mental health. She conducts individual, couple and group counselling sessions and has facilitated workshops on crucial topics such as identity development, racial justice, and mental health awareness. Michaël is deeply committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusiveness in all aspects of her work.

Michaël graduated from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Law and Justice. She is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in Ontario and holds registration with the Quebec Order of Social Workers. Additionally, Michaël is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and a proud member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). She is also registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

With a diverse professional background that includes teaching French language programs and managing family childcare services, Michaël brings a rich blend of experience and cultural sensitivity to her practice. Fluent in French, English, Creole, and Spanish, Michaël excels in connecting with clients from various cultural backgrounds, ensuring that all receive respectful and effective support.

Michaël employs a person-centred approach in counselling, utilizing a range of therapeutic strategies to address each client’s unique needs. She values compassion, integrity, and respect, striving to support clients through their journey of personal growth and healing.
