Samantha is of both Mi’kmaq and white descent. Samantha is a proud Mi'kmaq woman and a member of the Qalipu First Nation, residing in the beautiful lands of Ktaqmkuk. Her journey in the field of social work began with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University in 2019, followed by a specialized Bachelor of Social Work focusing on Indigenous child welfare from the University of Victoria in 2022. Samantha is registered with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Work.

 

As an Indigenous counsellor, Samantha brings a unique perspective and understanding to her work with clients from Indigenous backgrounds. Samantha is deeply committed to providing culturally competent counselling services that honour and respect the traditions and values of Indigenous communities with an approach that is rooted in compassion and empathy, allowing her to build strong and trusting relationships with clients.

 

Samantha has valuable experience working with a diverse range of clients, including youth, couples, families, and children. Samantha believes in the power of therapy to heal and empower individuals and is dedicated to providing a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

 

Samantha is passionate about promoting mental wellness and supporting individuals on their journey towards healing and growth. Her goal is to help clients navigate life's challenges and discover the strength and resilience within themselves. Samantha states that she feels privileged to be able to walk alongside her clients on their healing journeys and is committed to providing them with the support and guidance they need to thrive.
